I designed and built this AOL.co.uk homepage takeover for the launch of the Mk7 Ford Fiesta.
I was supplied with a selection of image and video assets, and designed the takeover experience based around the campaign motif of bold and simple shapes representing day-time and night-time driving.
The takeover launches as an overlay from the 300×250 unit. A car drives from the MPU into the centre of the page, and bars of colour radiate out from the car to fill the entire screen.
When the bars retreat, the page has been re-skinned with a night-time design, and a large video player autoplays in the centre of the screen.
There are several videos to watch and marketing images to view, along with links to book a test drive.
It was one of Aol.co.uk’s most successful campaigns, and Ford ran it again on two other occasions; only changing the messaging each time.
