I created the LOFT format as a major new ad format for Aol to launch at AdWeek in 2013.
It could be paired with any in-page display banner; MPU, Leaderboard, Billboard or Pushdown.
The LOFT unit is a thin bar anchored to the top of the page, that only appears when the paired display banner is no longer visible in the viewport.
The thin bar expands on click or swipe (for touch devices) to reveal a billboard sized creative containing video, galleries, animations, etc.
The persistence of the banner meant that a premium could be charged for the format, as it was always visible, in a non-intrusive way.
